Hugely Successful Concerts in Prestigious Venues

Under the baton of Tom Duffy, the Yale Concert Band took an 11 day, 6 concert tour to Brazil. Packed houses greeted the band at many of their stops.

The performing itinerary included an appearance at the Centro de Convivencia Cultural in Campinas, the prestigious Cultura Artistica in Sao Paulo, the famous Sala Cecilia Meireles Concert Hall, the Nossa Senhora da Paz Church in Ipanema, Santos Teatro Coliseu and Teatro Sesi in Sorocaba.

The Band was privileged to participate in a workshop on Brazilian Music with Professor Eduardo Ostergren, head of the Music Department in Campinas at UNICAMP (The University of Sao Paulo in Campinas).

When not performing or rehearsing for their 6 concerts, the Yale Concert Band enjoyed visits to Christ the Redeemer Statue on Corcovado Mountain, Copacabana beach and to Sugar Loaf Mountain to watch the sun set.
