4 Great Choirs Join Forces for Finale Concert in Smetana Hall

2008 was a great year for the Rhapsody! Children's Music Festival. Four fabulous choirs traveled and performed against the magnificent backdrops of Vienna, Salzburg and Prague. The choirs rehearsed and performed under the direction of the illustrious choral director Francisco Núñez. Between the rehearsals, concerts, sightseeing, and cultural exchanges with local choirs abroad, this festival is always a delight to our participants. The choirs joined forces with the exceptional Czech orchestra Virtuosi Di Praga at the glorious Smetana Hall in Prague. Directed by Francisco Núñez, the combined choirs and orchestra performed works by Bernstein, Delibes, Fazel, Jenkins, Núñez and Rodgers and Hammerstein.

Participating Choirs:

The Colburn Children's Choir, directed by Mikhail Shtangrud
The Kalamazoo Children's Chorus, directed by Fred Sang
The Minnetonka Chamber Choir, directed by Roger Satrang Hoel
The Young People's Chorus of New York City, directed by Francisco Núñez

Audiences deeply treasured and applauded the individual choir's concerts, held in such acclaimed venues as St. Andrä Church in Salzburg, Beethoven Hall in Vienna and St. Nicholas Church in Prague. The choirs were invited to be a part of mass at St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna and St. Vitus' Cathedral in Prague. As a grand finale for the Festival, the combined choirs had the privilege to sing at the colossal Smetana Hall in Prague. With a total of 6 concerts throughout the Festival, the choirs had plenty of occasions to display their wonderful talents and repertoire.
