Russia Rejoices the Hong Kong Children's Choir
The Choir Works with the St. Petersburg TV and Radio Children's Choir
 In June, the Hong Kong Children's Choir, under the direction of Kathy Fok, embarked on a 9 day, 4 concert tour of Russia. The choir was fortunate to be able to perform in many world renowned palaces, cathedrals and music halls. The Hong Kong Children's Choir's tour repertoire included sacred, secular, jazz, spiritual and modern works with pieces by Palestrina, Faure, Mozart, Chilcott, B. Smetana, Hampton and Kodaly, among others.
While in Russia, the Hong Kong Children's Choir was privileged to have a workshop with the renowned conductor of the Schnittke Music Academy as well as a workshop with the conductor of a famous Children's Choir in St. Petersburg.
When not performing, the Hong Kong Children's Choir took a much awaited tour of the Kremlin. Within its over 60 acres there are palaces, cathedrals and towers. The choir witnessed the magnificent Ivan the Great Tower and Belfry, the Grand Kremlin Palace, the Palace of Congress, Cathedral Square and Terem Palace as well as the Czar Bell. On other days off, they took tours of Moscow and Moscow State University and Vladimir and Suzdal, two picturesque medieval Russian towns. The choir toured the town of Vladimir with a visit to ancient St. Demetrius Cathedral and the Assumption Cathedral on the grounds of the Vladimir Kremlin. During their last few days in Russia, the choir toured the wondrous city of St. Petersburg. St. Petersburg was built to capture the best of Paris and Venice. There they saw Smolny Convent, the Pushkin Theater, the grand Kazan Cathedral, and the richly gold plated St. Isaac's Cathedral. The Choir traveled along Nevsky Prospekt and saw the Winter Palace of Russian Czars and the Palace Square.
