London Symphony Orchestra and Valery Gergiev Invite the Choral Arts Society of Washington for Mahler's 8th Symphony
 The Choral Arts Society of Washington, under the direction of Norman Scribner, received a rare and exciting invitation from the London Symphony Orchestra and Chorus to perform Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 8 ("Symphony of a Thousand").
Conducted by Valery Gergiev, the two performances at St. Paul's Cathedral both SOLD OUT! "From under the Dome, this was a marvelously convincing and hugely powerful performance, which was both stirring and moving. The dramatic contrast between massive choral-and-orchestral textures and almost chamber-like delicacy was impressively realised. The combination of the London Symphony Chorus and the Choral Arts Society of Washington proved to be a strong one; the voices were evenly balanced and produced a full, firm sound." The performance was recorded and will be released internationally on the London Symphony Live record label.
