Italy, Still a Popular Destination
 Yale Symphony Orchestra
The Yale Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Toshiyuki Shimada, just completed their 2nd tour in three years with Classical Movements, Inc. The orchestra took a 10 day, 4 concert tour to Italy.
The Yale performing itinerary included appearances and concerts at a Rome University and Santo Stefano del Ponte Church in Florence. The Yale Symphony Orchestra had the privilege to be presented by the Alma Mater Studitorum Universita de Bologna, Unibo at their Aula Absidale concert, and by La Fondazione Orchestra Sinfonica e Coro Sinfonico de Milano Giuseppe Verdi at their final concert at L'Auditorium di Milano.
The tour program consisted of Brahms' Symphony No. 3, Berlioz Roman Carnival Overture, Rimsy-Korsakov Capriccio Espagnol, Vivaldi's Concerto for Four Violins and other works by Ives and Mascagni.
The Shorter Chorale
Under current Director Martha Shaw, The Shorter Chorale put on 5 concerts in 10 days while touring Italy.
The Shorter Chorale performed at many esteemed venues such as St. Mark's Basilica in Venice, St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, the Saint Maria di Ricci Church in Florence, Presbiterio of the Church, Albaredo of Adige in Verona and a University in Rome.
The Chorale's tour repertoire included works by Palestrina, Grieg, Victoria, Gabrielli, Bach, Byrd and Duruflé.
The Shorter Chorale experienced a taste of everything Italian including St. Mark's Square in Venice, the Vatican, the Colosseum and the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
 The Smith College Orchestra
The Smith College Orchestra, directed by Jonathan Hirsh, just returned from a 9 day, 5 concert tour to Sicily. The orchestra visited 11 towns, including Palermo, Agrigento, Noto, Taormina and Catania.
The Smith College Orchestra performed a concert at the Palazzo Steri in collaboration with the University of Palermo Choir. They then held concerts at the Teatro del Mare in Menfi and the Auditorium "A Volta" in Montedoro. The orchestra's final two concerts were collaboration concerts with the Coro ad Dei Laudem in Carlentini and Cappella Musicale del Duomo di Catania.
The Lexington Catholic High School Choir
Against the magnificent backdrop of France and Italy, The Lexington Catholic High School Choir, directed by Adam Beeken and Rob Vanover, enjoyed a 12 day, 5 concert tour with Classical Movements, Inc.
A packed house greeted the singers at their many concert venues. The choir gave concerts at the Santa Maria dei Ricci Church, the Waldesian Church, and then performed during mass at St. Peter's Basilica.
On their days off, the singers visited the Italian Riviera of the Flowers, the Galleria dell'Academia where Michelangelo's David stands, the Sistine Chapel and Vatican Museums and attended the Papal Audience at St. Peter's Square at the Vatican.
Prior to arriving in Italy, the Lexington Catholic High School Singers toured and performed 2 concerts in France.
