South Africa Attracts the Choir of St. Paul's School
In March, the St. Paul's School Choir, conducted by Colin Lynch, embarked on a major concert tour to South Africa. They performed 5 concerts in 12 days, performing at such venues as St. George's Cathedral (the Church of Bishop Desmond Tutu).
The choir visited a game reserve, seeing amazing African wildlife, and descended into the Cradle of Humankind - hundreds of caves where the oldest known human fossils and skeletons were found. A highlight of the tour was seeing the Cape of Good Hope - a spectacular point where the currents of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet.
Without a doubt, some of the musical highlights of this trip were the choral exchanges and informal concerts with the local groups. The choir had a very special choral exchange where they visited a school for the blind and was the guest choir for their evening benefit concert.
