Philadelphia Boys Choir Enjoys Uruguay & Argentina

For the Philadelphia Boys Choir, their first tour with Classical Movements took them to Argentina and Uruguay. In July, the Philadelphia Boys Choir, directed by Jeffrey Smith, embarked on an 11 day- 5 concert tour. The Philadelphia Boys Choir was privileged to perform in many world-renown venues, including La Plata Cathedral, Basílica Nuestra Señora de Luján, Teatro Larranaga, Teatro Bastión del Carmen and Auditorio Nelly Goitiño. For their concert in La Plata, the Philadelphia Boys Choir joined Classical Movements' Melodia! South American Music Festival. They combined forces with the Atlanta Young Singers of Callanwolde of the USA and the Duke of Cornwall Singers from South Africa. When not rehearsing or performing, the Philadelphia Boys Choir enjoyed the many beautiful sites of Argentina and Uruguay. They visited the exquisite basilicas in each city. In Montevideo the boys toured the city, including the Plaza de la Constitution and the waterfront areas. One day, the choir visited La Estacia de Santa Susana for a Fiesta Gaucha show and horse and wagon rides. After lunch at the estate, they were treated to a wonderful show of folkloric dances. In return for the show that they received, the boys treated the dancers to a short selection of songs that included their song in Spanish, "Viene Clareando."

"Our most recent tour to Argentina and Uruguay was our first with Classical Movements, and thanks to them, it was the least stressful I've had yet! Classical Movements was very attentive to all our needs, musical and otherwise. The performance is the priority and they understand that. At the very beginning they asked many questions to get a sense of our expectations, and they followed through on every one of them. They were also open to doing things differently than they've done with other groups, as our expectations required. However, comfort and enjoyment for the boys and men was never sacrificed - the tours and excursions suggested were fantastic, and the accommodations were excellent. We're happy to be working with Classical Movements on our tour this coming summer."
—Jeffrey R. Smith, Music Director, Philadelphia Boys Choir & Chorale
