Cantaré Children's Choir Follows in Bach's Footsteps in Germany

In July 2009, the Cantaré Children's Choir, under the direction of Catherine Glaser-Climie, embarked on a 14 day - 6 concert tour of Germany. Stopping in Berlin, Potsdam, Wittenberg, Leipzig, Halle, Weimar, Erfurt, Eisenach, and Frankfurt, the choir toured one of the most historical and musical cities in Europe.

The Choir was hosted by many prestigious German venues, including ThomasKirche (where Bach worked as a cantor), Konzerthalle Ulrichskirche, and Pfarrkirche St. Georg (Bach Baptisterium Church).

In Leipzig, they toured the Bach Memorials, Gewand House, the beautiful St. Nikolas Church and Thomaskirche where Bach worked as the cantor. Their final stop on the tour was Frankfurt: the birthplace of J.S. Bach.

Along with J.S. Bach, the choir also traced the life of Protestant Reformist Martin Luther. They visited the church in Wittenberg where he nailed his 95 theses in 1517, saw Lutherhaus, located in the Augustinian monastery where Luther lived, and they toured Schloss Wartburg in Eisenach where Martin Luther hid while he translated the New Testament into German.
