Minnesota Orchestra Conquers Europe

This past February and March, the Minnesota Orchestra, directed by Osmo Vänskä, embarked on a concert tour of Europe. Performing 8 concerts in 14 days, the orchestra played to concert halls such as the Barbican in London, the Philharmonie in Berlin and Cologne, Tonhalle in Düsseldorf, Liederhalle in Stuttgart, Alte Oper in Frankfurt, Salle de Concerts in Luxembourg and the Musikverein in Vienna.

Classical Movements made all of the arrangements for the 13,570 miles traveled and over 1,540 rooms nights booked.

"It was sheer adrenal excitement all the way. The opening movement was thrilling, the second movement tragic without heavy solemnity, the scherzo energised without being especially quick. But what made the performance outstanding was the finale. Vänskä and the Minnesotans built a cumulative tension through every twist and turn, right up to the final explosion of joy at the end"
—Ivan Hewett, The Telegraph
