Yale and Juilliard on Concert tour of Italy Performing Bach's St. Matthew's Passion for Enthusiastic Crowds in Packed Halls
Yale and Juilliard in Concert at the Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome
Yale Institute of Sacred Music's Yale Schola Cantorum and Juilliard Historical Performance of the Juilliard School of Music joined together to perform St. Matthew's Passion in a collaborative concert tour throughout Italy under the baton of renowned conductor, Masaaki Suzuki, the founder of Bach Collegium Japan who is currently a faculty member at the Yale Institute of Sacred Music. To everyone's delight, each concert was a completely packed house! Long lines of hopeful audience members waited for hours until the doors opened where they then poured in until there was standing room only.
