Itinerary

DAY 1: YOUR HOME COUNTRY - VIENNA
THURSDAY, JULY 14
Noon or AfternoonFly from your home country to Vienna, Austria.

You may lose one calendar day and reach Vienna the following day.

With a population of more than 1.5 million people, Vienna is the center of Austrian politics, economics, and education. Art and culture have a long tradition here as evidenced by the beautiful opera houses, concert halls, grand Cathedral, museums and by the delicate Romanesque & Baroque architecture. The great composer Mozart lived here for many years.

DAY 2: ARRIVE IN VIENNA (D)
FRIDAY, JULY 15
NoonArrive in Vienna.
You will be met by your escort and air-conditioned motor coach at Vienna International Airport.

Time permitting, you will have a brief orientation tour of the city before Checking into the hotel.

DAY 3: VIENNA (B, L, D)
SATURDAY, JULY 16
MorningWorkshop with an Austrian famous music professor to review great works and musical theory.

EveningConcert #1 - Individual concert.
Each choir has a 15-30 minutes. Individual concert plus a grand finale with all the festival choirs together.

NoonConcert #2 - Sing Mass in one of Vienna's greatest churches (Probably at historic St. Stephan's - Vienna's main Cathedral.)

DAY 5: VIENNA-SALZBURG (B, L, D)
MONDAY, JULY 18
MorningTravel via the Lake District to Salzburg, Austria enjoying the beautiful countryside.
AfternoonWalking tour at Mondsee.

Visit and Joint rehearsal with the Guest Conductor at the Wedding Church made famous by the film "The Sound of Music"
EveningContinue driving to Salzburg

DAY 6: SALZBURG (B, L, D)
TUESDAY, JULY 19
MorningTour the old city of Salzburg.
Walking tour of the Old City Including stops at Getreidegasse, St. Blase Church, the Horse Pond, Festspielhaus, Residence Palace, Dom, The Mozart statue, Mirabell Palace and Gardens
AfternoonPrivate rehearsal with your own choir and music director
EveningConcert # 3 - Individual choir concert at St. Andrä Church or University Church or similar.
Each choir has a 15-30 minute Individual concert plus a grand finale with all the festival choirs together.

DAY 7: SALZBURG-PRAGUE (B, L, D)
WEDNESDAY, JULY 20
MorningDrive to Prague, Czech Republic.
AfternoonStop in Cesky Krumlov, a UNESCO listed World Heritage Site to explore the quiet and beauty of this charming town.

DAY 8: PRAGUE (B, L, D)
THURSDAY, JULY 21
MorningAll the festival choirs rehearse with Guest conductor in the morning
AfternoonDepart by bus for a half-day city tour including the Hradzany castle district and Golden Lane, Charles Bridge, St Nicolai Church and the famous Glockenspiel

DAY 9: PRAGUE (B, L, D)
FRIDAY, JULY 22
MorningFree time in the morning in heart of the city for independent exploration
AfternoonAll the festival choirs & local orchestra rehearse together
EveningConcert #4 - Joint concert in Prague with orchestra and guest conductor

SATURDAY, JULY 23
MorningMeet in the lobby and depart for a half-day city tour including Wenzeslav Square, Obecni Dum Tower, the Glockenspiel and the pedestrian area next to Altstadter Square.
AfternoonAcoustic Rehearsal with guest conductor and local orchestra
EveningConcert #5 - Grand Finale directed by the guest conductor

DAY 12: PRAGUE-HOME (B)
MONDAY, JULY 25
MorningDepart for Prague Airport to fly Home.

YOUR RHAPSODY PACKAGE CAN INCLUDE:
  1. Flights to Vienna with your return from Prague.
  2. A modern air conditioned bus throughout for the whole tour for each group of minimum 30 persons.
  3. Ten nights tourist class hotel accommodation with private bath, including all taxes and service charges.
  4. One free place based on half a double room for the tour escorts/instructors for every 25 paid (26th and 52nd are free). Maximum of 2 free.
  5. All meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) starting with the Welcome Dinner on the arrival day in Vienna and ending with breakfast on the departure day in Prague.
  6. Welcome Dinner Party and Farewell Dinner Party.
  7. Soft drinks for all meals.
  8. One tour director throughout for each group.
  9. One guided tour in each city.
  10. Entrance fees for selected sites.
  11. Local English speaking tour guides.
  12. At least one rehearsal for individual performances.
  13. At least three rehearsals of festival literature with Guest Conductor (one with orchestra). 1
  14. Two concerts with multiple choirs - each choir sings individually, conducted by its own Music Director.
  15. At least two joint performances with orchestra and all choirs together, leads by our distinguished guest conductors.
  16. Concert arrangements to include:
    • Venues Hire.
    • Publicity including Flyers and Posters for each concert.
    • Concert Programs.
    • Chamber Orchestra for at least two rehearsals (one with Guest Conductor and one with all choirs and Guest Conductor) and two concerts in Prague.
    • Royalties for concerts.
    • Guest conductor fees and travel costs.
  17. Participation in Mass in Vienna and Prague.
  18. Festival T-shirt for each chorister.
  19. Certificate to Rhapsody festival for each chorister.
  20. One tour book for each tour participant with detailed instructions on your trip, and travel tips and information on visited countries.
  21. Basic medical insurance (for US and Canada choirs only)
  22. Classical Movements fees.
