Baltimore Symphony to Make 3 Debuts on First International Tour in 13 Years

With 112 musicians and staff, 78 cargo trunks weighing in at nearly 7,000 pounds and 54 of the proudest possible patrons in tow, the Marin Alsop-led Baltimore Symphony Orchestra is finally on the road again—traveling to the United Kingdom and Ireland for its first international tour in more than a decade.

Performing twice in Edinburgh, then on to London and Dublin—all invite-only debuts at the Edinburgh Festival with pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet and the BBC Proms with violinist Nicola Benedetti, as well as their first-ever concert in the Republic of Ireland—the BSO’s nine-day, four-concert tour has been a goal of Alsop’s ever since taking the podium in 2007.
