Elisabeth Christensen joined Classical Movements in 2024. She had previously been a client of Classical Movements for a decade as managing director of the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra and Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, collaborating with Classical Movements on six international tours. Elisabeth lived in Guatemala and France as a teenager, where she learned to speak Spanish and French. She discovered her love for arts administration and the lasting impact of international concert tours as an undergraduate student, when she organized a tour to China for her college orchestra. Her professional career has included leading the Crowden Center for Music in the Community in Berkeley, CA, as well as the New England Conservatory Preparatory School in Boston, MA. Elisabeth began studying violin at five years old and later studied piano, viola, and organ. She has a bachelor’s degree in music from Stanford University and a master’s degree in viola performance from New England Conservatory. She taught violin and viola students for over thirty years and continues to perform professionally as a violist, including as principal violist of the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra from 2008 to 2024.
