Frances van Zyl,
Marketing and Operations Manager
Frances van Zyl, a South African national who grew up in the capital, officially joined Classical Movements full time in May 2024. With a Diploma in Performing Arts Technology from Tshwane University of Technology, specializing in Scenic Design and Prop Design, Frances has a rich history in event management and social media content creation. She has previously worked seasonally with Classical Movements from 2010 to 2017, assisting in tour operations for the Ihlombe! South African Choral Festival.
Frances brings a wealth of experience in managing events and crafting engaging content for social media. Her roles in various event and restaurant settings have honed her skills in organizing large-scale events, overseeing staff, and producing creative content to promote business initiatives. This experience, coupled with her years in Theatre also led her to work on Classical Movements’ Prague Summer Nights Opera music festival in June 2024.
Fluent in Afrikaans and English, with conversational skills in Italian, Frances has a lifelong passion for music, having been a choral singer since age 13. They are also skilled in playing Recorder and African drums. In her free time, she enjoys creating poetic storytelling costumes and make-up, organic and permaculture vegetable farming, long distance hiking and camping.
