An administrative division of China, Hong Kong could be a concert tour all on its own. Its strong presence on the international economic stage pairs cutting-edge cosmopolitanism with a colorful and unique culture filled with Chinese influences. Hong Kongese stars like Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan have helped the film industry become among the most respected in the world, while the prevalence of excellent theater facilities and conservatories as well as a number of renowned orchestras provide countless performance opportunities. Musical ensembles can expect to contribute to this fascinating global culture in Hong Kong. It can of course be combined with tours to China or cities like Singapore, Macau, Bangkok, Bali and Jakarta.

Classical Movements started tours to Hong Kong and China in 1995 and have taken numerous groups there over the last 20 years. It has two world class performance venues, a very fine symphony orchestra, and numerous choirs including the terrific Hong Kong Children’s Choir that has made two tours with Classical Movements (to Russia and Central Europe). Prominent orchestras and choirs have done tours there with us include the Glen Ellyn Children’s Choir, the Vancouver Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra and Yale Glee Club, to name a few.

Testimonials

“[The Pažaislis Music Festival] was the best stop of the trip… in particular the venues and audiences were excellent. Every concert was packed. The concert in Moscow’s audience was very appreciative… there was press coverage, and in general was a great concert on which to end the tour.”

“Thank you for inviting us to participate in this wonderful IHLOMBE festival.  Musically, we, the Morgan State University Choir had an opportunity to hear some very fine choirs from South Africa and the United States. Culturally, we visited places that will change our lives forever…I personally know how much time and effort went into every detail of this trip.  You have given the students of these choir memories that will last a lifetime.”

“For starters I would like to thank you and everyone at Classical Movements for the wonderful work you did on behalf of the VSO. The compliments continue to flow in on how smoothly everything went. To say we couldn’t have done it without you would be the understatement of the year! The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra is extremely proud to have undertaken this historic tour.  Audience reaction to our performances was most enthusiastic and it is heartwarming to consider the number of lives we touched through the concerts as well as the dozens of educational activities in which Maestro Tovey and our musicians participated.”
